On the 4th of July, while commemorating Sanjoy, a guiding light for us who acted on his conscience, spoke with sincerity, and followed through on his promises, we at Urmul Seemant honoured his memory by following his path and addressing the challenges faced by girls in rural Rajasthan. With the support provided by Sonu Kothari (HNI businessman) we inaugurated a girls’ hostel in the campus of Urmul Seemant.

A man in kurta and pyjama, with a beard, and carrying a Jhola on his shoulder with a soothing smile. This precise depiction resonates with everyone who has encountered him personally or with those who have read and heard about Sanjoy. Even today, his work and presence inspire motivation and provide a sense of purpose. To some, he may have been one of a kind, but what set him apart was his unwavering honesty. He acted on his conscience, spoke with sincerity, and followed through on his promises. Engaging in a conversation with him was a unique experience, as he connected with the innate truth within others, allowing them to empathise with his perspective.

We honoured his memory by following his path and addressing the challenges faced by girls in rural Rajasthan. With the support provided by Sonu Kothari (HNI businessman) we inaugurated a girls’ hostel in Urmul Seemant . This hostel holds immense importance, especially for girls who had to drop out due lack of facilities, large distances or other personal reasons.

In Rajasthan, girls often face societal norms, economic constraints, and lack of educational resources, which result in high dropout rates. Our girls’ hostel aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for students in grades 9-12 from neighbouring villages. By offering computer courses, a library, a digital studio, and other facilities, we strive to bridge the gap in educational opportunities.

The hostel’s affordable cost of 2000 rupees ensures that even girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds can access quality education. We believe that education is a powerful tool for empowerment and social transformation. By empowering these girls with education, we are breaking barriers and opening doors to a brighter future.

Through the inauguration of this hostel, we continue Sanjoy’s vision of fostering education and advancing our work. As we sang “Hum Honge Kamyab Ek Din” (We Shall Overcome Someday) during the ceremony, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting these girls and their aspirations.
